Michael Schumacher: The king of speed

Achievements :- seven-time world champion, and current adviser and occasional test driver for Ferrari

The king of speed Michael Schumacher is the only formula one champion from Germany. He started showing his potential from his early childhood when he won his first championship at the age of six in karting competition. Although Michael Schumacher parents were working very hard to provide him kart equipments but their earnings were hardly sufficient for this.
Michael Schumacher made his debut in formula one racing with the Jordan-Ford team at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix. In this race Michael Schumacher drove car no.32 as a replacement for Bertrand Gachot who was imprisoned at that time. Schumacher joined Scuderia Ferrari S.p.A. in 1996.

In 2000 after a long Battle with his opponents Michael Schumacher won his third world championship. Michael Schumacher won 5 out of 8 races in this championship. Although in mid of the year 2000 Michael Schumacher failed to complete three of his races and because of this Michael Schumacher's chances of winning that championship suffered a lot. During all this event Häkkinen was the major opponent of Michael Schumacher. Both of them were winning favourites for this championship but at last Michael Schumacher won the championship. After winning 41st race Schumacher equaled the number of wins of his idle Ayrton Senna. On this occasion at a press conference Michael Schumacher broke into tears.

After the year 2004 Michael Schumacher won a record 12 out of 13 races and the only race he lost because of an accident on the track. Year 2006 was proved last year of his racing career and before the starting of Brazilian Grand Prix which was the last race of his career Michael Schumacher conceded the title to Alonso.

Marion Jones: From gaining to returning Glory


Before October 2007 this name 'Marion Jones' was like everything for track and field athletes. This athlete was roll model for almost every track and field athlete. And this was so because She won five medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.How confident she was at that Olympic in Sidney that she announced that she is expecting to win all five medals in her five competition events.

What happen after that is very disappointing for 'Marion Jones''s followers. Her supporters supporting through all these events badly surprised by this news. On October 2007 Marion Jones admitted that she used performance-enhancing drugs and accepted 2 years suspension. With this event jones also announced her retirement from track and field on October 5, 2007.

This event also raised question mark on the anti doping body of international Olympic association. this also raised question on Olympic event itself. although Olympic association is claiming that anti doping technology is now improved very much.The United States Anti-Doping Agency stated that the sanction "also requires disqualification of all her competitive results obtained after September 1, 2000, and forfeiture of all medals, results, points and prizes".

Usain Bolt from cricket to track and field




Usain Bolt the name needs no introduction after Beijing Olympic 2008 Games. But only a few people know that in his childhood Usain Bolt was interested in cricket and he came in athletics after his cricket coach advised him for that.

Bolt was born in Sherwood content, a small town in Trelawny in Jamaica. According to Usain Bolt, he was fascinated about sports from his childhood. Bolt spent his time in playing cricket in his early age . He attended Waldensia Primary School and this was the place where for the first time his sprinting skills surfaced and by the age of 12 years Bolt had become the fastest runner of his school in 100 meter distance. But he didn't started focusing running as a career then.



Later he attended William Knob Memorial High School . This was the place where his cricket coach amused by his running potential requested him to join 'track and field' events . This was the turning point in his career as after this bolt coached by Pablo McNeil a former 100 meter Olympic athlete and Dwayne Barrett. They encouraged him to implement his potential and energy in strengthening his athletic abilities.


McNeil and Usain Bolt enjoyed a very positive partnership. Usain Bolt won his first high school championship medal in 2001. Although Bolt occasionally frustrated McNeil by his lack of concentration in training and funny jokes.

Track and Field events

Track and Field diagram Track and Field the two different words are united and then spoken. All the different running, jumping and throwing events of this sport are played in the same arena, the running events are played on track while the jumping and throwing events are played in the field and that is why united we call these events Track and Field events.
The diagram hereby represents that the track is a running area with eight lanes in it as per to the rules levied by IAAF (International Association of Athletic Federation). Each lane on the track field is 48" wide, there by providing enough space for a athlete to run on it. The various events which are performed on the track are 60 meters which is generally played as a indoor event. Then the various events which are performed in open arena are 100meters, 200mts and 400mts as sprint or stride events. 800mts and 1,600mts are played as middle distance running, while 3,200mts, 5,000mts and even 10,000mts along with marathon are played as long distance running. Marathon events are performed as fartlek event on the outer skirts of the city. There are also hurdling events and relay races as parts of track events. Hurdling events are for 60mts, 100mts, 110mts and 400mts. Then the relay events are 4*100mts and 4*400 mts.
Looking to the field events we have throwing type of events there are Discus, Hammer, Javlin and Short Put. While looking at the jumping events we have High Jump, Long Jump, Pole Vault and Triple Jump. Besides this there are combination events also. These combination events are combination of various events. These are Heptathlon and Decathlon. Heptathlon for women comprises 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200, long jump, javelin and 800. While on the other hand Decathlon is a event for men which comprises events like 100, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400, 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500.
