LONDON: Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar became the first Indian sportsman whose life-size wax statue was installed in Madame Tussauds wax museum. The wax statue was inaugurated on Sachin's 36 birthday on Friday. He is the third cricketer to make the grade and joins cricket legends Brian Lara and Shane Warne. However, the statue was formally launched by Tendulkar in Mumbai on April 13 but officially it was inaugurated in London's wax museum on Friday.
In fact, Sachin is busy in Indian Premier League II in South Africa. He celebrated his birthday with his Mumbai Indians teammates. There are a lot of wax statue of Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Some important political figures like former Indian Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Narasimha Rao statues are also there in the wax museum.
Liz Edwards, PR manager at Madame Tussauds London, who accompanied the wax figure from London to Mumbai and back said that Sachin himself praised the wax statue and said if it would breathe. He claimed that there are a lot of fans of Sachin so the statue will attracts a huge crowd. Sachin will come to see it here very soon.
