Track and Field events

Track and Field diagram Track and Field the two different words are united and then spoken. All the different running, jumping and throwing events of this sport are played in the same arena, the running events are played on track while the jumping and throwing events are played in the field and that is why united we call these events Track and Field events.
The diagram hereby represents that the track is a running area with eight lanes in it as per to the rules levied by IAAF (International Association of Athletic Federation). Each lane on the track field is 48" wide, there by providing enough space for a athlete to run on it. The various events which are performed on the track are 60 meters which is generally played as a indoor event. Then the various events which are performed in open arena are 100meters, 200mts and 400mts as sprint or stride events. 800mts and 1,600mts are played as middle distance running, while 3,200mts, 5,000mts and even 10,000mts along with marathon are played as long distance running. Marathon events are performed as fartlek event on the outer skirts of the city. There are also hurdling events and relay races as parts of track events. Hurdling events are for 60mts, 100mts, 110mts and 400mts. Then the relay events are 4*100mts and 4*400 mts.
Looking to the field events we have throwing type of events there are Discus, Hammer, Javlin and Short Put. While looking at the jumping events we have High Jump, Long Jump, Pole Vault and Triple Jump. Besides this there are combination events also. These combination events are combination of various events. These are Heptathlon and Decathlon. Heptathlon for women comprises 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200, long jump, javelin and 800. While on the other hand Decathlon is a event for men which comprises events like 100, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400, 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500.
